On this fourth Sunday of the Resurrection season, we might find ourselves identifying with the Apostles and disciples who gradually moved from fear to joy after the Resurrection. Today’s gospel tells a wonderful account of Jesus appearing by the Sea of Tiberias. This happened some time after the Resurrection. A key word we hear in it is “reveal.” It says, “Jesus reveals Himself again”-He revealed Himself in this way.

How did Jesus reveal himself in this happening? We might say it was when the disciples got what they wanted—the catch of fish. But Jesus was always there. It was the disciples who could not see Him.

The message of this gospel is not limited to the fishermen at the Sea of Tiberias. It is meant for all people, including us today. Jesus continues to reveal Himself to us, especially during our times of frustration, despair or fear. He might be telling us to make a move or take a risk in order to free our spirit. Are we ready to move from our place of comfort? Are we ready to trust His words? Are we ready to preach His name? As we come to the Eucharist, we are sharing a meal with the Risen Lord. Let us come to the table and be strengthened  to do what He asks for us!

As you can see, we have no mass intentions for the daily liturgies. It is sad to know a community such as St. Raymond’s has to seek intentions from other parishes. Is this how much we remember in prayer our beloved deceased? Think about it!
